Praying for Staff and Volunteers

By CTA – Christ to All

Use the Scripture verses below as you pray for church staff and volunteers. You will need to alter the language a bit to fit your particular congregation or ministry. For example, “Lord Jesus, you are my Good Shepherd and the shepherd of all who lead in my church. Teach each of us to trust your promise that we ‘shall not want.’ Give all who serve on our church staff or volunteers rest in your green pastures. Thank you for the many times you have used our (music ministry, Sunday school teachers) to lead us beside the still waters of your Word . . .”

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
      He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
      He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness
      for his name's sake.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
      I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
      your rod and your staff,
      they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me
      in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
      my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
    all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever (Psalm 23 ESV).
