Giving and Forgiving

By A. Trevor Sutton

Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do” (Luke 23:34 ESV).

Read Jeremiah 31:31–34.

Empty hands seem to have nothing to offer. Yet, with nothing in his hands but the nails holding him to the cross, Jesus gave and forgave.

No matter how big your regret, how shameful your sin, or how broken you are—from the cross, Jesus has forgiven you all of it.

Jesus journeyed to the cross to give his blood and life to give you the new life that only he can provide.

Nails in hand, Jesus gave you the greatest gift one could ever receive—forgiveness! What does it feel like to be forgiven?

Prayer starter: Jesus, you are the greatest of givers. Remind me that I am forgiven . . .
