Then children were brought to [Jesus] that he might lay his hands on them and pray. The disciples rebuked the people, but Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 19:13–15 ESV).
Jesus welcomed the parents who brought their children to him. They wanted him to bless their children and he was eager to do it! Can you image how those parents felt? What an incredible experience it must have been to see the Savior of the world stretch out his hands over each child! He offers the same blessing to you and your children today. Bring your children to him in prayer; he is eager to bless them!
A Prayer for Safety
Lord, keep my children safe and healthy. Watch over them and protect them on the playground, on the road, at school, and wherever today may take them.
Guard them against illness and injury. Surround them with loving adults and friends who will positively influence them. Give them wisdom to make good choices and smart decisions.
Help their bodies to grow strong and healthy. Give them robust immune systems to fight off sickness and disease.
More than anything else, I ask that you keep them spiritually healthy. Enable them to grow in their Christian faith and always to stay close to you. Strengthen them to handle whatever comes their way and to know that you are always with them. In Jesus, I pray. Amen.
