The word LOVE spelled out in tiles on a Bible

By Cherie Werner

The season of Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, March 5th this year. It’s a six-and-a-half-week period leading up to the celebration of Easter (April 20). Lent is generally a time of repentance and reflection. Repentance is a very necessary part of our walk with God—without recognizing our sin, we have no need for a Savior.

But oh, what a Savior we have! As you walk through this Lenten season, take time to focus on the names and attributes of Jesus. As you think about all that Jesus is and all that Jesus has done, take time to thank and praise him!

As you praise him, ask him to open your heart and mind to understand and know him better. The more you get to know who Jesus is and what he has done, the more you will discover needs in yourself that you didn’t know existed. Ask your Savior to fill those needs as only he is able.

Praise him for what he has done! Praise him for what he is doing that you cannot see! Praise him for the not-yet and for the things he will do in the future!  God is always working on you, in you, through you, and around you.

Bless the LORD, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! (Psalm 103:1 ESV)
