The kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel (Mark 1:15 ESV).
“Give me oil in my lamp, keep me burning.” So goes the traditional children’s song based on Jesus’ parable of the ten bridesmaids. Coincidently, the chorus of this song echoes the praises sung at Jesus’ Palm Sunday parade, “Hosanna to the King of kings!” The oil in the lamp symbolizes faith in our crucified and glorified Savior. With faith burning in our hearts, we will be ready for Jesus, our Bridegroom, when he comes to take us into his heavenly home. Think about the people around you who do not yet possess “oil in their lamps.” Reflect on your opportunities to bring them the Good News so that, by the Holy Spirit’s power, they too may be ready to go with Jesus when he comes again.
